Installation Description for MBS – The Ultimate Compact Carrier System

Product Overview: The Mule Back Standard (MBS) is the “lite version” of the MBXL, offering a compact and versatile carrier system. It allows a clear view out the back window if your interior build doesn’t block your view. Mount it quickly to your rear operable door and customize it to carry a variety of items such as cargo boxes, ski carriers, bike carriers, water containers, and more. The MBS is laser-cut from a solid piece of plate aluminum for precision and durability, designed to handle the toughest terrain and harshest conditions.

Innovative Design: The MBS mounts securely to the innovative structural hinge bracket and requires specific mounting holes for a secure fit. Reinforcement plates are included to ensure proper integration with your van.

Installation Steps:

Preparation:

• Gather all necessary tools and components included in the package.
• Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the rear door is accessible.

Mounting Hole Drilling:

• Drill a mounting hole in the door between the rear Mercedes symbol and the hinges, and a larger hole directly opposite it inside the door, hidden behind the interior trim panel.
• Drill an additional mounting hole at the lower outer edge at the very bottom of the MBS for final secure mounting.

Reinforcement Plate Installation:

• Attach the exterior and interior reinforcement plates to the drilled holes.
• Secure them with the provided fasteners to ensure a strong and stable mount.

Hinge Bracket Attachment:

• Mount the structural hinge brackets to the existing hinges of the van.
• Ensure the brackets are securely fastened and aligned properly.

Mule Back Standard Installation:

• Attach the MBS to the hinge brackets using the provided hardware.
• Adjust the carrier to accommodate your specific gear setup.

Final Adjustments:

• Check all connections and fasteners to ensure everything is secure.
• Test the setup by opening and closing the rear door to ensure smooth operation.

DIY Installation: The MBS is designed for easy DIY installation. Detailed step-by-step instructions and a video guide are included to assist you throughout the process. No need to change out your hinges—keep your original hinges, which are painted the color of your van!
